OFW jumps from roof to escape from abusive employer in Saudi Arabia

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia jumped off the roof of her employer’s house to escape from the abusive hands of her boss

In a video featured in GMA News, the OFW (name withheld) said she jumped off the roof of her employer’s home because her life is at risk.

"Kaya napatalon ako doon dahil may gustong pumatay, papatayin na nila ako," she said.

Aside from giving her too much work, her employers reportedly do not give her food and took away her cellphone.

Tapos sasabihin nila, 'di ko inaasikaso 'yung mga bata," said the OFW whose name was not revealed in the news report.

With her face covered with bruises and wounds, the OFW still seemed to be in a daze from the fall as she called for help in getting home to the Philippines.

"Tulungan n'yo ko dito (para) makauwi ako (galing) dito," she said.

According to the report, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office has notified the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia about her situation for appropriate action.

However, the Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration (OWWA) said they have yet to speak with her employers and look into her employment agreement before she can be repatriated.
