THE enemies of mankind are on the increase. They include not only those who make destructive bombs and lethal poisons but also those who cause conflicts and bloodbaths by publishing material that promotes sedition, corruption and discord, making use of social media, especially Twitter.
Hateful messages and tweets trigger conflicts and wrangling between people, thus destroying peace and tranquility in society. Saudis and other communities have been facing cyberattacks through social networking sites, aimed at creating sedition and causing harm to individuals, states and organizations.
Many people use social media to spread rumors. There are others who spread rumors through tweets targeting national security. None of us imagined that the social networking sites, especially Twitter, would become a platform for creating sedition and sectarian feelings among people to undermine the security and stability of nations.
Modern technology must be used to promote love, harmony and moral values making use of its capability to reach a large number people around the world simultaneously. Unfortunately, the enemies use this media as a tool to spread venom. Some countries that do not like to see any progress and prosperity for our nation use this facility to destroy our values and abuse the nation and its people.
They incite sedition and cause chaos and turmoil spreading malicious rumors. There are enemies who are skilled in creating crises and controversies. Despite their internal conflicts they are united in their objective to undermine security and stability of our peaceful nation by hatching conspiracies. They will not show any interest or enthusiasm toward ending conflicts and narrowing differences.
These rumor mongers have lately created Social media accounts in the name of Saudi families and personalities. They post lots of tweets with very few followers. They use fake user names and fake photos to mislead their followers. They flood social networking sites with hashtags having the same message in order to give the impression that many people in the country share the view. They spread the same message from different accounts to get wide publicity.
