How To Get The Pixel 2'S Beautiful Live Wallpapers On Your Current Phone

We already showed you how to get the Pixel 2 's new camera app and calendar widget on older Android devices, but there's another fresh feature from Google that you can port over to your current phone. The Pixel 2 comes with some cool new live wallpaper options, too. Here's how to get them without buying the new smartphone.

What Are the New Live Wallpapers?

Live wallpaper is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: a moving image for your home or lock screen. Google's new options for the Pixel 2 include birds-eye-views of impressive locations like Monument Valley, Mount Vesuvius and the coastline in Lagos in Nigeria, along with images of the Earth, the Moon and other celestial bodies viewed from space. There are also some abstract designs with names like Glimmer and Gooey, plus a design that shows the wind patterns wherever you are.

Here's what they look like in action (courtesy of Android Police ):

How to Get Them Now

These new wallpapers are supposed to be exclusive to the Pixel 2, but Android developer Pranav Pandey has already found a way to get them running on older devices without too much effort-as long as you're running Android 6.0 or higher.
Before you get started, you'll need to install Google's official Wallpapers app if you haven't already. It's a pretty cool app, with lots of different settings for customizing your wallpaper using images pulled from Google Earth, Google Plus and other sources.

Next, you'll need to download Pandey's port of the new live wallpapers. You can grab the file from APKMirror . Once it's installed, just hold down on your home screen until a menu pops up and select Wallpapers. At the bottom of the list you should find a new section labeled Live Wallpapers. Just pick the one you want to use and you're done.
