Ajman Police control rush at food store after discount offer

The Ajman Police intervened on Thursday afternoon to disperse customers, who rushed to a department store in Ajman to buy discounted foodstuff, especially those consumed during the holy month of Ramadan.

A video footage taken from inside the shop that went viral on social media showed it offering consumer goods such as Vimto syrup and a carton of bottled water for Dh1.

Within an hour, the shop saw a rush of customers and the owners were not able to control the situation. The Ajman Police patrols stepped in to organise and protect the crowd in order to avoid a stampede.

An official source at the Ajman Police confirmed that after the video footage went viral on social media, Major-General Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of the Ajman Police, gave orders to dispatch patrols to follow up and control the situation.
