Shalini suffered from severe vomiting, diarrhea, and slowly began to lose her memory. After a PET scan at Aster DM's medical facility in Kochi, India, it became evident that she had new lesions in the brain. She was admitted to Omega Hospital on May 13, and she died due to a cardiac and pulmonary arrest on June 17.
'She never gave up'
"The doctors would admire her spirit. She did not want to give up. Even weeks before her death she was willing to undergo an alternative treatment if there was one," VM Seema, older sister of Shalini Santhosh, told Khaleej Times.
According to an official statement issued by Aster DM Healthcare to Khaleej Times, Shalini was employed by the company on a special humanitarian consideration on special approvals from the company chairman's office. The company also met her family visa requirements by providing a higher salary to sponsor her son. Towards the end, the company offered the necessary financial support for her treatment in Hyderabad and facilitated the PET CT scan at Aster Medcity Hospital, Kochi, India.
