Dubai’s Sass Café closes its doors

DIFC restaurant-meets-club Sass Café has closed its doors after five years of fun-loving service on the Dubai’s dining scene.

The Monte Carlo party hotspot joins the likes of 360° and Societe as major Dubai bars and clubs to have closed down in recent months – and with a deluge of massive new nightclubs having opened since the end of 2017, the competition is getting fierce.

Bulldozer Group – the management company behind Sass, as well as new entrants 1 OAK and Seven Sisters – says something new and exciting is already scheduled to arrive in its space. According to Bulldozer, the decision to close Sass is mainly down to the new opportunity in the existing space.

“Sass Café had a good, long run and in such a dynamic industry we felt it was time to introduce something new,” a spokesperson for Bulldozer Group told Time Out Dubai.

While details are yet to be disclosed, Bulldozer (which also operates Time Out Dubai’s Club of the Year, BASE Dubai) has confirmed the new venue is scheduled to open sometime around September.
With that in mind, it looks like summer is going to be a particularly busy, with Sass being transformed into a brand-new nightspot.

Whether that takes the form of a new nightclub, like super swanky US import 1 OAK, or if it’s going to go be a chilled out bar like Seven Sisters, we’re eager to find out.

Bulldozer says that Sass Café will be relocating, and more information is due soon on where and when the new-and-improved Sass will be coming back to Dubai.
