Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice, issued a ministerial resolution setting up the Shawwal moon-sighting committee for the current Hijri year 1439 to determine the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

The committee will hold a meeting after Maghrib prayer on Thursday, 14th of June (29th Ramadan) at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

The committee will be chaired by the Minister and its membership includes Sultan Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri; Mohammed Hamad Al-Badi, President of the Federal Supreme Court; Yousuf Said Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Judiciary department in Abu Dhabi; Taleb Mohammed Al Shehhi, Director General of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf); Dr Farouk Hamada, religious advisor at the court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince; Mohammed Al-Yadali, mufti at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), judges and others.

ADJD's own moon sighting committee will continue to collect evidence of sighting the new moon of the Hijri month of Shawwal and is to report findings to the Ministry's committee.
