Two Asian drug smugglers with 186 capsules of heroin - weighing 1,310g - concealed in their guts were nabbed by the anti-narcotics department of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, in collaboration with the Dubai Police.

"The department was tipped off about a drug smuggler. While checking passengers, they discovered another smuggler with narcotics capsules in his stomach on the same flight," said Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of the RAK Police.

Col Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director of the anti-narcotics department, RAK Police, said they were tipped off that an Asian visitor would be trying to smuggle drugs into the country.

"A special team was formed to track and closely monitor the movements of the suspect." 
The suspect looked anxious and nervous. When confronted, the smuggler admitted to having concealed 96 capsules of heroin - weighing 749 gram - in his stomach, he added. "While checking all passengers on the same flight, another man was found trying to hide 90 capsules of heroin - weighing 561.4 gram - in his guts."   

Both the drug smugglers were referred to a hospital where 186 heroin capsules were taken out from their stomach, Col Al Zaabi disclosed.  

Late in April this year, the department caught an Asian drug smuggler with 167 capsules of heroin hidden in his guts, according to a senior police officer.

"Parents are urged to keep an eye on their children and protect them against narcotics. It is not only the responsibility of law enforcement bodies to curb drugs. All members of the society are equally responsible to check the menace," he pointed out.
