UAE workers can expect another holiday in 2 weeks

Workers in the UAE who still cannot get over the holidays during Eid Al Adha only need to wait for two weeks for another holiday.

According to the official holiday dates released by the UAE government, the next holiday following Eid Al Adha is the Islamic New Year, also called Hijri, which is expected to fall on September 11.

Traditionally, a one-day holiday is declared in celebration of the New Year.

According to the announcement, Islamic occasions, such as the Hijri New Year’s Day, depend on moon sightings. Thus, dates listed with asterisks are only expected and tentative dates.

Workers are still advised to wait for official announcements from the UAE government.

Earlier, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan also proclaimed November 30 as Martyr’s Day to be held to remember the heroic deeds of the nation’s martyrs.

Meanwhile, the UAE National Day is celebrated to commemorate the founding of the union of the United Arab Emirates.

“Federal ministries, public departments and institutions are closed during the public holidays listed,” the announcement read.
