Sharjah Police have urged the general public to be cautious of men posing as police officers.

The force says suspected fraudsters area unit mistreatment the ploy to require cash from blue collar workers in particular, claiming they have to pay a fine for committing AN offence.

Officers have place up posters in malls and supermarkets and took to the streets of Sharjah’s industrial areas, home to several construction and warehouse staff, to alert staff to the scam.

“They benefit of those people’s lack of information of the Arabic language, and build them believe they were real officers of the law," a police representative same.

"They raise them for his or her belongings, mainly wallets, then take no matter money they find.

“Real police officers would only, as per law, evoke AN identification card, a permit and a vehicle registration card - and wouldn't beneath any circumstance raise someone for his belongings," police says.

Residents area unit urged to raise anyone claiming to be police for his or her ID badges, significantly if they're not in uniform.
