Body of Missing Filipina Found in HK Beach

A Filipino woman who was reported missing Wednesday night in Hong Kong was found dead Thursday morning.

According to Apple Daily, a swimmer at the Repulse Bay beach called the police at 9pm on Wednesday after he found a bag and a pair of slippers and some personal belongings but the owner was nowhere to be found.

 

Police arrived and found a wallet and ID card in the bag belonging to a woman of Filipino origin aged around 40, Oriental Daily reported. The police then suspected that the woman went missing and launched a search overnight together with firemen from the diving unit and officers from the Government Flying Services department.

At 6:15am on Thursday, a swimmer surnamed Tsang called police to say he had found the body of a woman wearing a swimsuit and floating about 100 meters offshore, Apple Daily reported.

The woman was dead when firemen got to the scene.

Police believed it was the woman of Filipino origin who was reported missing on Wednesday night. They believe the woman drowned while swimming as there were no signs of foul play.
