Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Rebukes Paparazzi At Charity Event: It's Not A Premiere

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a second uncomfortably close encounter with the paparazzi in about as many weeks. Days after husband Abhishek Bachchan checked a photographer's camera for intrusive pictures of her, an emotional Aishwarya told the paparazzi off for getting too close at a charity event she was attending in memory of her late father Krishnaraj Rai whose birth anniversary it was yesterday.

Aishwarya, 44, her mother Brinda Rai and her six-year-old daughter Aaradhya were at a Smile Train Foundation event when the actress, visibly tearful, rebuked the cameramen present for unseemly behaviour - it appears that they were jostling for space in the crowded venue.

A source present at the venue told NDTV that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan asked the paparazzi to stop taking pictures and 'show some respect' because it was not a 'premiere or another public event.'

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's father died in March this year and before that he often accompanied the Jazbaa actress to Smile Train events. It was an emotional moment for the understandably upset star.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the goodwill ambassador for Smile Train, which she co-partners with her own charity foundation. The foundation's aim is to provide free cleft lip and palate surgery to children in need.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has previously had at least two similar encounters with paparazzi that we know of - weeks ago, Abhishek took a moment to ensure no cameras had gotten up the skirt of her denim shift as she entered her car after a party at Manish Malhotra's house - video below. Before that, over-enthusiastic lensmen managed to knock Aishwarya's mother down while taking pictures at Mumbai airport.

Many celebrities such as Kajol and Rani Mukerji have blasted the paparazzi for clicking pictures of their children. But some stars, like Shah Rukh Khan, have a different way of dealing with the cameras. Shah Rukh, whose daughter Suhana was cornered by the paparazzi at a screening of Tubelight in June, told News18: "I am okay with them getting photographed... I have told (my kids), if photographers come, give the pictures and ask, 'Can I go now'. They'll all listen to you because I have known them for 25 years."
