The Chinese Embassy in New Delhi has issued a safety advisory for its citizens travelling to India and the ones staying here amid the simmering Sino-India tensions in the Sikkim sector.

The advisory which was issued on July 7 stands valid for a month.

"It is not a travel alert. It is advisory asking Chinese travellers to be careful," a Foreign Ministry official said.

Sikkim border standoff between India, China

China and India have been engaged in a border dispute in the Doklam area near Sikkim for the past three weeks after the Chinese army's construction party came to build a road. India has opposed to the construction citing security implications.

China reasons out its safety advisory

No reasons have been cited so far for the safety advisory but it is being speculated that it has been issued to advise the Chinese citizens to avoid being hit by the anti-China sentiment.

As per Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang, "The Chinese government attaches great importance to the safety and lawful rights of its citizens".

What has happened so far?

China accused India of halting its road-construction in the Donglang area near Sikkim, while India says that it stopped the PLA which transgressed into the Doka La area and destroyed two bunkers.

China also stopped Indian pilgrims from undertaking the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra through Nathu La from Sikkim to Tibet.

Maintaining that Donglang is part of its territory, Bhutan accused China of violating its boundaries.

Chinese daily accuses Indian troops of entering Chinese territory

The editorial said: "Jaitley is right that the India of 2017 is different from that of 1962 - India will suffer greater losses than in 1962 if it incites military conflicts."

It said "India's provocation" has left the Chinese public "infuriated."

It also asserted that the Chinese military is "powerful enough to expel Indian troops out of Chinese territory."
