Unexpected Everyday Items That Are Bacteria-Laden

If you think that your bathroom’s toilet seat is the dirtiest thing ever, think again! Surprisingly, our everyday items are dirtier than we ever imagined.

Here are some everyday items that are breeding grounds of bacteria and other germs. We also listed ways to prevent dirt from spreading.

 

Handbag

Research shows that our handbag is three times dirtier than an office toilet seat. If these precious bags contain dirt, would you know which part is the dirtiest?  Sad to say, but the handle’s bag is the dirtiest not the bottom part of the bag.

Prevent dirt by using bag hook whenever you go. Disinfect your bag regularly. If you are in a public restroom, keep your bag off the sink counters or place tissue or paper towel before you put your bag down.
Handheld gadgets (smartphone, tablet , cell phone, etc)

If you are too engrossed about your gadgets, this revelation will lead you to manage better your gadgets especially on how you should use them wisely. Tablets, television’s remote control, mobile phones are covered in 10 times more disease causing bacteria than toilet seats. If you think that these gadgets provide convenience and entertainment to our lives, ironically, they also bring damage to us.

Prevent dirt by cleaning your gadgets daily. Always have your pack of wipes come in handy to remind you to wipe the remote control and other gadgets regularly.

Toothbrush

Even the most trusted toothbrush, your teeth’s cleaning tool is likewise, dirty as fecal matters are found in an average person’s toothbrush.

Prevent dirt by storing your toothbrush in a closet cabinet in your bathroom or soaking it in a mouthwash that contains cetylpyridinium chloride for 20 minutes a day.

Computer Keyboard

Working on a computer has its cons, too as keyboard has almost 5 times more bacteria than that found on a toilet seat.

Prevent dirt by cleaning and disinfecting your keyboards daily. Include mouse and mouse pad for disinfection. If you use keyboard at the internet shop, sanitize afterwards. Prevent eating at your workstation because the food particles that fall into the keyboard’s crevices are difficult to remove.

Kitchen items

Kitchen sinks are dirtier than most bathrooms with more than 500,000 bacteria per square inch are found in the drain alone. In addition, kitchen’s cutting board and sponge are germ carriers. Did you know that a cutting board has 200 times more fecal bacteria than a toilet seat? Meanwhile, kitchen sponge contains 10 million bacteria per square inch that is 200,000 times dirtier than your toilet.

Prevent dirt by searching the internet for tips in cleaning your kitchen sink and cutting board. For the sponge, to keep it germ-free, wash it with soap and warm water and then put it in the microwave for about two minutes to kill the germs. Sponge should be wet before you hit start. Do not microwave metal sponges.
