Indian first baby born to pilgrim this year

A Haj pilgrim gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday (August 7) at the Maternity and Child Hospital in Makkah, becoming the first pilgrim this year to deliver a baby in the holy city.

"I am so happy that I came to Makkah to perform Hajj carrying my baby. I thank God that I could give birth here. I am grateful to the health authorities in Makkah and to the hospital management for taking utmost care of me,” said Shahin Karban, 21, said, reported by the Centre for International Communication.

She gave birth on August 7 at the Maternity and Child Hospital in Makkah.

Nine women pilgrims of different nationalities delivered babies during Hajj last year, Dr. Anas Saddayo, Director of the Maternity and Child Hospital in Makkah, was quoted in media reports as saying.

He said that the well-equipped hospital had provided “all required facilities for the guests of God and extended high-quality services of international standards to the pilgrims, visitors and residents."
