13. Christian Bale
Before he embarked on a journey to face all evil as Batman, Christian Bale wasn’t having the best times in high school. He could have probably used his superhero powers back then to impress his classmates, who didn’t care to get to know him.
Some were even mean to the actor, especially once he found fame at such a young age by starring in Empire Of The Sun. You would think that kid celebrities would receive special treatment, but the opposite is closer to the truth. Kids won’t be exactly thrilled to see one of their classmates shine, which in turn creates jealousy and tension.
Not only was Bale unpopular as a kid, but his new stardom made him a victim to some of the school bullies who went out of their way to make him feel bad about breaking into Hollywood.
12. Demi Lovato
Who wouldn’t want to be friends with Demi Lovato? Her childhood peers, according to the star, who has spoken about her struggles during middle school up until high school. An outcast in her younger days, she wasn’t one of the cool kids and struggled to adjust during her teen years.
According to Lovato, one of the reasons behind her lack of popularity was her weight and she was mocked by many of the kids who obviously didn’t know any better. It affected her confidence for years as she battled some tough times while she tried to change her image.
As an adult, Demi has been outspoken in supporting obese kids who are sadly still experiencing some of the elements that had made the star uncool among her peers. Without proper parenting, kids can be ignorant and say hurtful things, but it’s the very reason why it’s important to raise awareness in regards to bullying.
11. Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz comes across as the most confident person in the world, so you would surely expect her to have been one of the most popular kids in high school. That wasn’t the case. Diaz was somewhat nerdy and not exactly as lusted after by men as she is today.
According to the actress, she wasn’t even acknowledged by the guys who attended her high school, but it obviously didn’t negatively affect her as she grew up to put everyone else to shame with her major success.
There are several girls in desperate need of companionship even in their teenage years, but the actress was planning for far more important things. During an interview, Diaz stated that she doesn’t attend high school reunions since she doesn’t care what her peers are up to these days. When you reach her level of stardom, she probably has too many things keeping her busy over reconnecting with people who didn’t add much value to her life.
10. Justin Timberlake
If Justin Timberlake was a loser in his younger days, then nothing should surprise you anymore. He’s been in the spotlight for so long that we thought he must have been popular throughout his entire life.
But before he truly became a musician and film star, kids weren’t very fond of Timberlake. In fact, he was mocked for being different than anyone else, with some labeling him as “weird”. As it turned out, being different is far from being a negative thing, as Timberlake became one of the top artists of 2000.
It’s clear that he isn’t completely over the days when he was deemed a loser since he has mentioned it a few times. Perhaps it’s to lift the spirits of those who are currently going through a difficult time at such a young age, especially kids who are mocked for not fitting in in a place where everyone attempts to do so.
