Do you know the three most popular and extensively researched theories on intelligence? The first theory by Charles Spearman in 1904 says if people do well on some sections of an IQ test, they do well on all of them, and vice versa. Years later, Howard Gardner, a psychologist from Harvard, came up with the Theory of Multiple Intelligences. According to this theory, there are eight different types of intelligence, including analytical and emotional intelligence, and there need not be any correlation among them. Then came the Triarchic Theory of Intelligence by Robert Sternberg. He categorised intelligence into three subsets, analytic, creative, and practical. 

While these theories have analysed intelligence to a great extent, there has not been any consensus on what defines brainpower. None of the theories could pinpoint the true measure of intelligence.
