Filipina expat looks for job, wins house at raffle

When a woman went to an employment fair in the Philippines looking for a new job, she could never have imagined that a double delight was in store for her: a job as well as a house.

Joyce Mae Ridual, who had left her job in Saudi Arabia, attended the fair during the World Labour Day on May 1 at the request of her mother, according to the Filipino Times.

The 25-year-old visited the Cordillera Department of Labour and Employment Labour Day Job Fair where she secured a position as a registered nurse overseas. Her prior experience in the field while working in Saudi made her qualify for the job.

Even as Ridual was basking in the joy of a new job, a 'lifetime gift' awaited her.

A raffle draw was conducted at the end of the fair where her ticket number won her a house. It took time to sink in. "When my number was called, I was surprised and I began to wonder if I wrote my name on the ticket. Then, I found that it wasn't necessary; only the number was required. I couldn't believe my luck, " Ridual said, as she beamed with joy.

At the end of it all, the young woman went home not just with a new job but a house as well.
