Gunmen Kill Police Officer During Lanao Ambush

Gunmen attacked police officers in Lanao del Sur on Monday. The ambush killed one special action force member and wounded four others.

Serving an Arrest Warrant

Officers from the Buadipuso Buntong station attempted to serve an arrest warrant. They wanted to arrest Sukair Diongcat for murder and attempted murder. The police team approached the village of Lumbak around 11 in the morning.

Hidden snipers fired at the officers from multiple directions and triggered a shootout.

Rushing the Injured to Safety

Medical teams rushed five injured police officers to a hospital in Marawi City. Corporal Kelvin Francisco sadly died from his severe injuries later. Francisco served proudly as a member of the Special Action Force.

The four remaining wounded officers currently rest in stable condition. Police Captain Steffi Salanguit confirmed the medical status of these brave men.

Pursuing the Attackers

Provincial police chief Colonel Caezar Cabuhat leads the ongoing pursuit operations. He deployed heavy reinforcement units to hunt down the dangerous suspects. Authorities promise to bring these lawless elements to justice quickly.
