Few musicians can claim a vibrant, active career spanning over five decades, but Tom Jones is one who certainly can. The musician’s wide range of musical styles has appealed to mutigenerational fans across the world, with hit songs such as ‘It’s Not Unusual,’ ‘Kiss, ‘Delilah,’ and ‘Green, Green Grass of Home’ helping him sell over 100 million records over the years. In 2006, he was honoured by Her Majesty the Queen, who knighted the singer. He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Hitmaker Award from the [US] Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in recent years, he has appeared as a coach on The Voice UK.
It is only fitting that such a distinguished musician should headline the opening night of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival and his performance is sure to draw huge crowds. His performance will be preceded by New York City-based blues musicians The Rad Trads, whose rhythmic music features powerful horns.
