Dubai prepares for an exciting weekend of professional boxing. BATL Promotions will host a two-night showcase at The Meydan Hotel. The event takes place on September 18 and 19. Saturday’s card features four talented Emirati professional fighters. Saif Alhaj, Ammar Tayel, Abdullah Marjan, and Amer Asuwaider will all compete in the ring.
Showcasing Regional Talent On A Global Stage
This marks the largest representation of Emirati boxers on a single professional card. The event highlights the steady growth of combat sports in the UAE. Former world champion James Dickens will also return to the ring. He faces Ramadhani Kimwaga from Tanzania in a highly anticipated bout.
Liverpool-born Dickens previously captured the WBA interim super-featherweight title. He secured that victory after stopping Albert Batyrgaziev in Istanbul. He subsequently lost to Anthony Cacace earlier this year and seeks to bounce back in Dubai. Friday begins with a focus on emerging local talent developed within the UAE boxing scene.
Creating Clear Pathways For Future Champions
Ammir Khan and Michael Roos will compete for WBC Asia Continental honors. Rising prospect Asaad Touqan challenges for the WBC Asia Youth title. Emirati fighter Ibrahim Yousif Al Ali, holding nine professional wins, will also feature. BATL Promotions founder Jamie Cormack praised the development of these athletes.
He emphasized the importance of creating a clear pathway for regional fighters. The organization wants to help amateurs transition into successful professional careers. Over the past two years, they have staged 14 successful shows in Dubai. They attracted more than 15,000 passionate spectators to these boxing events.
