Husband lost his life saving his wife from the Las Vegas gunman

A Tennessee nurse was among the 58 killed in the the Las Vegas crazy shooting yesterday.

Sonny Melton, 29, was with his wife, Heather Melton, at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when the shooter fired on the crowd from his hotel room.

 

The husband died while shielding her from a barrage of bullets. She was not injured.

“He saved my life but lost his life,” said Heather Gulish Melton in a statement to US media.

Heather Melton described the attack as horrific; adding “words cannot describe what happened last night.”

“At this point, I’m in complete disbelief and despair. I don’t know what to say. Sonny was the most kind-hearted, loving man I have ever met. He saved my life and lost his,” she said.

According to his Facebook page, Melton was a registered nurse at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Melton graduated from Union University in 2015, the college confirmed in a Facebook post.
