Stephen Paddock, the Las Vegas shooter had gone through a high-level of preparation before he opened fire from his Mandalay Bay room. He positioned two cameras in the hallway and another one in the peephole so that he could see the security teams approaching his room. The Las Vegas authorities have announced that the final death toll including Paddock was 59 people.
Joseph Lombardo, Clark County Sheriff told the gathered press that Paddock’s attack seemed to be premeditated based on the kind of weapons found in his hotel room and also the number of weapons found. Paddock is said to have planned the attack extensively.
Kevin McMahill suggested that Paddock might have stopped shooting when he was distracted by a security guard.
This is now officially the worst shooting in modern U.S. history and President Trump has been under pressure from several people to reconsider the current gun laws. Trump responded by saying that the topic does not have to discussed immediately.
Reuters managed to get hold of a senior U.S. homeland security official who spoke anonymously that there was no evidence to prove that Paddock suffered from mental illness or brain damage nor has there been any criminal record against him.
The gun shop owners who sold some of the guns to Paddock also said that they conducted the mandatory background check and there was no evidence to suggest that Paddock would commit such a hateful act.
