What do we know about New Zealand mosque shooter?

One of the New Zealand mosque terrorists has been identified as Brenton Tarrant after he posted a live stream on Facebook during the double attack that left 49 dead.

Using the name ‘Brenton Tarrant 9’, footage showed him going into the Al Noor mosque where he fired a gun at least 205 times, killing dozens of people. He used four different guns, stopping only to reload using multiple magazines.

He was confirmed to be an Australian national by Prime Minister Scott Morrison who described him as an ‘extremist, right-wing terrorist’. Tarrant described himself on Facebook as ‘just an ordinary white man, 28 years old. Born in Australia to a working class, low income family.’ He added: ‘My parents are of Scottish, Irish and English stock. I had a regular childhood, without any great issues.

I had little interest in education during my schooling, barely achieving a passing grade.’ He posted a manifesto on Facebook saying that he was in New Zealand temporarily while he ‘planned and trained’ the attack. He went on to say that the attack was carried out to avenge ‘thousands of deaths caused by foreign invaders.’

During the attack he can be seen wearing what appears to be military clothing and there are multiple rifles pictured in his car. Prior to the shootings he posted a picture on Twitter showing magazines with the names of other mass shooters or victims of terror attacks, written in white.

Only three days ago he asked ‘how many of these attacks are quickly forgotten?’ as he apparently mourned the deaths of other mass-killers. His manifesto is a racist diatribe which goes on at length about mass immigration, describing it as ‘white genocide’.
