OFW spared from death row in UAE meets Duterte

Overseas Filipino worker Jennifer Dalquez went to Malacañang on Tuesday to personally meet President Rodrigo Duterte days after her return to the country.

Dalquez was acquitted in 2017 of the murder charges filed against her in the United Arab Emirates.

She was convicted in 2015 for the stabbing to death of her employer who she said was trying to rape her.

Dalquez's tearful encounter with President Duterte on Tuesday was shared by Administrator Hans Cacdac of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration via the POEA official's Twitter account.

“The President is a shoulder to cry on for returned OFW Jennifer Dalquez who was saved from death row in Al Ain Prison, UAE,” Cacdac said of the moment.

Cacdac said that Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III and officials of the OWWA joined the Dalquez and her family in meeting the President in Malacañang.

Dalquez was repatriated back to the country last November 2.
