Proving that you don’t have to be rich to save money, a security head was able to save nearly Php85k with the special Php100 money challenge he imposed on himself.

Sir Jesse Palerit works as head of security at the Department of Agrarian Reform in Quezon City, Philippines. Inspired by the many money challenges he saw on the internet, he decided to make his own version of the Php100 money challenge.

Each time he has Php100 bills, he would put this inside his alkansiya. He does the same thing with the Php10 and Php5 coins he receives.

Just like the other money challenges you might have seen on social media, Palerit had wanted to keep saving for one entire year but on the eleventh month, the alkansiya box was already full; thus, he didn’t wait for the year to be completed.

Palerit was amazed that he was able to save Php84,515 in the past 11 months, especially considering that this was the first money challenge he participated in.

He admits that saving that much money had not been easy for him; in fact, it was truly challenging.

This is just to encourage not only young people but also to all na ang pagtitipid at pag iipon ay npaka importante. Wala nmang pinipiling edad ang pag iipon. Ang importante may disiplina tayo sa sarili kong pano gumastos.

Hindi lng bibili tayo ng isang bagay dahil gusto natin ang tanung kilangan ba talagang bilhin? There’s a difference between wants and needs.

But saving wasn’t easy, of course. There were times when he had to forego having snacks, just so he could put the money in his piggy bank. It was a commitment that impressed a lot of netizens.
