There’s no better gift to anyone than you. You’re it. Trust me on this. But just because you are you doesn’t mean people care about what you had for breakfast this morning. It’s essential that posts (like in storytelling) are based in truth. True to you. The always intuitive Rosie Leizrowice talked about this in a recent column:

She’s referencing not giving up the little things that make you authentic for the greater good of a larger identified “structure”. Few people realize that the stuff that would seem so simple, so arbitrary, so uninteresting is actually the stuff that IS interesting. Follow? You’re probably saying “well I’ll post my beach photo” But we all go to the beach and we all eat breakfast (well maybe not all). Is that something at your inner core that makes you, you? I doubt it. See, it’s those moments of vulnerability that are your most interesting moments. Watching someone on social media is no different than reading about a reality star in the tabloids or watching a movie star on the big screen…And this brings me to my next point. While you are being your raw, vulnerable, and authentic self you also need to be cognizant of my next point.
